You can make your own concrete countertop, and get beautiful results.
It's easier than you think.
Whether it's a coffee table for your living room, new countertops for your kitchen, or a new chapter for your creative side, concrete is a unique process that gives different and quite often surprising results. You don't need carpentry skills. You don't need a garage full of the latest gadgets either. You just need a desire to be creative. Once your first piece is finished, you will be amazed at the feeling of satisfaction you will have.
I've created a manual that provides everything you need to know to get started, including techniques, tools, and materials. I started with concrete years ago, but couldn't find clear and complete intructions, without having to buy very expensive product along the way. $300 wet polisher, $80 bags of concrete, $20 for an 8oz bag of gray slurry. I've bought it all, only to learn it can be done much cheaper with amazing results.

I use products that are 1/5 the asking price of the websites, and are available at a hardware store near you. These products are proven within the industry and are listed in my manual in an easy to read format.
I explain the techniques I have learned and developed from start to finish.
I have taken the seminars, bought the cds and $80 bags of concrete. You don't have to.
I'll tell you EVERYTHING you need to know to complete a countertop, start -to-finish, including the costs of ALL the tools and materials you need. I even show you how to build the correct type of work table you'll use.
The manual is an easy to read PDF file with plenty of pictures showing as many of the steps possible. The idea is to have the manual with you as you go through the process, taking the anxiety and guesswork out of the creative steps. Simply refer to the manual as you go, and have fun with it.

Print it out or leave it on your computer. Take it with you on supply runs. Just get started with all the practical hands on specifics you will need at easy reference!
Concrete can look like velvet or suede, with high gloss, satin, and matte finishes. It can be ground, pressed and troweled, and the slurry and aggregate options are endless.
Get started with everything you need in an easy to read format. Take this information and do concrete on the side or make it your primary business. It's an industry that is just getting started. Why not start now, knowing you have a guide book that cuts through all the salesmen trying to sell you their product.

Get Started.

About Pete Hawes
Peter Hawes is the owner of Green Leaf Design House, based out of San Diego, California. He has been in the construction industry twenty years, creating unique and functional spaces.
Early on in his career, he began focusing on kitchen and bath renovations, creating warm and inviting combinations of wood, tile, and later on, concrete. As his work load grew, he became more and more familiar with concrete, and its capabilities.
It was not long before he was hooked. He, as much as his clients were amazed at the finished product. Soon he was installing one-of-a-kind pieces for homeowners, who in turn enjoyed being part of the design process. What other solid surface countertop lets the owner have a hand in actally creating the look and finish they want? No more just choosing between what is already out there. With this material every nuance, tone, and texture can be manipulated to the space in question.

It's Pete's goal to condense his knowledge into an easy to read manual. This information will save you the frustration of looking for answers in a sea of websites that only want to sell you their DVD, seminar, or product. You will have the tools and the information necessary to build your first piece at 1/5 the cost with easy to get materials and tools. Not to mention the savings of skipping the pricey seminars.
If you are interested in trying a project of your own, and want an easy to read manual that will show you the step-by-step process as well as save you lots of money, this manual will help you tremendously.
Develop your skill without breaking the bank. There are plenty of top grade materials, tools, and techniques out there that can keep your costs down, and, if you choose to do concrete for a living, your profit margin will be in the 80% to 120% range.

With building practices implementing more and more green materials, concrete is quickly becoming a popular alternative. I’m convinced concrete is the better alternative to the usual materials for countertops both in appearance and performance. But just as important, I feel good about providing a product that can be used long after its original purpose and is easy on our environment.

Latest Kitchen on a Budget:
This is a kitchen I just finished here in San Diego. The total cost of the concrete I used for the countertops was less than $75.00. The backsplash was less than $60.00 (Subway Tile). Fantastic value, and a lot of fun.

Testimonials:

Peter's manual saved me time and money. I don't know how else to say it. And when I had a question he emailed me right back with his answer. I really appreciated that! -- John, San Diego, Ca.
Just a quick note to say thanks a lot for your great book....you have actually saved me so much time researching the process. My partner and I are both stone masons and will be doing some experimenting this week. Hopefully will send you some photos and feedback soon....We are located way up in northern Canada...Sault Ste Marie Ontario ....Take care and thanks. Sam, Sault St. Marie Ontario, Canada
I had been trying to put together everything I needed for my first product, but was starting to get nowhere. I would buy one product, then be told it wasn't right. But that was because they were using a different technique. It was very frustrating. I bought Pete's manual and had my first project done that week. -- Gary, Austin, TX.
Thank-you for the excellent manual. It looks like I'm going save a ton of money compared to purchasing from one of the mass retailers. Scott, Kalamazoo. MI
A friend of mine did his kitchen with concrete countertops and they were beautiful. I decided I wanted to try it and I didn't want to make any mistakes. I kept Pete's manual right in my shop, and even kept it with me at the store I invited my buddy over and voila....brand new countertops as beautiful (maybe more) as his. Robert, Sydney, Australia
In the UK, concrete hasn't really even started as a medium for countertops. Peter's manual made things much easier for me, and provided me with what I needed to know to complete my project. Very helpful. Peter, Essex, UK
The manual had plenty of pictures and step by step instructions throughout the entire process. I had one question so I emailed Peter, and he responded the same day. That was a great help for me, and my first project came out great!! Susan, Ontario, Canada.
A quick note from Pete:
I really appreciate all the kind words. I knew there was a gap on what's out there as far as getting started in interior concrete, but I had no idea this manual would get this kind of response. Please keep the comments and questions coming!
Call me with any questions, or if you just want to talk shop. I am happy to talk concrete and find out what's on your work table!
